In Third Grade, we recommend practicing print and cursive with Regular Double Lines and transitioning to Narrow Double Lines as children are ready.

In Fourth Grade, children should be writing on Narrow Double Lines. We recommend transitioning Fifth Graders from Narrow Double Lines to Single Lines.

Stage 1: Direction Instruction

Stage 2: Guided Practice
The child looks at the completed model of a letter, word, or sentence and copies it to match the model. Use guided practice as an opportunity to practice spelling words in cursive.

Stage 3: Independent Practice
