Thought Leader: Dr. Tim Shanahan

Dr. Tim Shanahan is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is the former Director of Reading of the Chicago Public Schools. Dr. Shanahan was a member of the National Reading Panel and served on the board of the National Institute for Literacy under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. He has published more than 300 research articles, books, and other papers on reading education. Shanahan is a former first-grade teacher. His website and podcast, Shanahan on Literacy, are very popular.

Cheryl holds a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership, is a distinguished educational leader, and has been recognized with multiple awards for her achievements. She served as the lead curriculum developer for Learning Without Tears' Get Set for School Language and Literacy curriculum, which received an AEP Distinguished Achievement Award, and was awarded the Investors Bank Educator of the Year Award.
